Meg was born on April 19, 1996, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Chad Cheatham and Nichole (Erisman) Burfield. She attended AFC Schools for many years, prior to attending ISVI from 2015 until her graduation. To know Megan was to know someone with a truly kind heart and beautiful spirit. She never met a stranger and had a true talent for making others feel welcome, happy, and accepted. Meg loved to travel and was adventurous in her endeavors. She did things like hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, jet skiing...she was far more than her disability labeled her and never wanted to be defined by it; her actions proving she was just as capable as any other person. Never once did she say "I can't" and instead was always adding a new accolade to her long list of achievements.

Ever the social butterfly, Meg loved to ask questions, joke, listen to what others had to say, and meeting people; she loved people. She spent her time volunteering for Teen Turf, was an outgoing member of the Blind Community, was the Broadcaster of her own radio show (98.6 - The Mix), did theatre in her younger years, and was part of Penguin Project. Meg also loved horseback riding and spending many years attending Camp Barnabas, one of her very favorite places to be. She also was a part of numerous groups, making friendships that spanned across the internet and in person. Megan lived her life to the fullest and saw only the good in others. Her life serves as an example of how we all should live.

Meg is survived by her mother and step-father, Nichole and Jeff Burfield; father and step-mother, Chad Cheatham and Diana Tharp; five siblings, Caitlin (Jeremy) Dean, Kalyshia Howell, Helena Tharp, Jackson Cheatham, Catalina Pokorny; aunts and uncles, Stacy (Trent McKenna) Erisman, Cory (Jessica) Cheatham, Patti (Jordan) Taylor, John (Holly) Cook, Gary (Linda) Burfield; grandparents, Rick and Jean Claeyssen, Sue McQueen, Susan Erisman; nieces and nephews, Meadow, Messiah, Miraiyiah, Jakarius, and one future niece, Lila; five cousins, Cheyanne, Corey, Mariah, Piper, McKenzie; and special friend, Keenan Holliday.

Meg was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dale Erisman; great-grandparents, Bill and Ruth Capriola, Noah Erisman, Mae Higgins; and two aunts, Nancy Capriola, Brenda Williams.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, IL. There will be a Short Visitation the following morning from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, IL, with Pastor Farrel Stauffer, officiating.
